While living abroad in Paris in 2015, I was employed by the Speaking Agency as a babysitter and weekly English tutor, and in 2018, I was a live-in nanny (au pair) for family in Luxembourg, where I taught the children French by immersion.
In the summer of 2016, I was a substitute teacher at the English Language Center, where I taught intermediate and advanced courses in English grammar and conversation to international students aged 10-18. I taught over 23 hours of self-created lesson plans, including creative projects and games.
That same summer, I also was a counselor and assistant director for the "littles cast" of Seussical the Musical at dee-Lightful Productions musical theatre camp. I was responsible for leading warm ups, rehearsals, and activities for the campers, as well as running early or after care.
Childcare/ Education
I can remember all the way back in elementary school spending my free lunchtimes teaching reading to the kids in my old first grade classroom (since kindergarten and first grade had separate lunch times from the rest of the school). By middle school, I had begun babysitting and tutoring in my spare time.
In college I minored in education, taking classes on early childhood development and doing fieldwork at local Berkeley schools, including mentoring middle schoolers through Project S.M.I.L.E. and volunteering with the YWCA as a teaching assistant for children of all abilities at Sankofa Academy.
